At Edgecity we strive to be leaders in the small business construction industry space. It is a passion of our’s to also be leaders in the reduction of construction waste and carbon from our sites. In support of this, one of our Site Leads, Clement recently attended the Sustainable Business Network “Building Out Waste and Carbon Masterclass” and is Edgecity’s Waste & Carbon Champion.
For a number of years now, Edgecity have removed waste from our sites using industry partners to ensure we are doing our bit.
How do we do this? Here are some examples:
Our used branded clothing is recycled into product used for packaging and insulation, paint is returned to the Resene for appropriate disposal using their PaintWise program, waste on site is sorted into recycle bins for plastics, paper, glass etc. Plasterboard offcuts are collected by Green Gorilla using the GIB/Green Gorilla initiative to recycle the waste into a variety of agricultural products. Steel is collected and taken to local scrap metal recyclers. Polystyrene is sorted separately and dropped into the polystyrene recycling centre at the Concourse.
Recently we hosted Clinton Jones from Green Gorilla at Edgecity’s premises. This was an opportunity to learn from Clinton on how we can collaborate to ensure that our focus remains strong and our leadership in this space continues to grow. Here’s what Clinton had to say after our meeting:
Hi Team,
Thanks for the time taken to meet with me today.
It was good to introduce Green Gorilla and all we stand for.
I was impressed with the strides you are taking towards more sustainable outcomes.
I was even more impressed with your obvious commitment to action evident in the set up of your offices.
Loved the Memorabilia and the passion.
Look forward to working more closely with you and your team.
