We had a lot of great learnings from our recent Toolbox with a presentation from Paul Young (Twin Solutions), discussing the upcoming industry changes to sustainable building practices, some of which will be in effect by 2023. Paul bought with him members of his own crew to mix and mingle with all of us here at Edgecity.
Slade McFarland from MATES in Construction raised our awareness of the issues faced in construction. Life stresses happen in most people lives, however coupled with stresses created at work, means we are often more vulnerable than others. Remember to help each other off load “boxes” when they get too heavy.
June Toolbox
We had a great Toolbox last week with some instruction from Selwyn at Easy Access Scaffolding and Brad from Hilti. Check out some photos below.
It’s great to be able to work with a proactive company. I was impressed with how you organised and structured the meeting.

Food taste better when it’s for a good cause
Nick and Sharon, along with the rest of the Auckland Certified Builders Committee, had the pleasure of attending the Big Buddy’s long lunch on the 28th of October. Big Buddy is a mentoring charity that works on the simple philosophy that boys need good male role models in their lives to become good men. The lunch raised a total of $50,000, with $10,000 coming from our individual committee members themselves. A great cause well supported by the team.
Speakers included Sir Graham Henry and the team enjoyed a stunning 4 courses from Chef Ollie Philp, each matched with either beers from Citizen, Hallertau, Fortune Favours & Waiheke Island Brewery, or wines from Craggy Range, Unison, Quartz Reef & Yealands.
At the moment there are 50 little buddies looking for big buddies, so anyone who would like to become a big buddy please get in touch through the website - https://www.bigbuddy.org.nz/
Bathroom Renovation
When the Client’s dialled SOS… Edgecity’s Team responded.
Here’s what the Client had to say after our visit.
“The bathroom is very good, only a shame we wasted 8 weeks and some $$$ with the cowboys who made a hash of the first attempt. Should have gone with the experts to start with.
The plasterer has been here this week and will put the final coat on the bathroom and hall tomorrow then it will be all ready to paint.
The invoice has been paid today. Thanks again for rescuing us from our predicament”.
